A Love Letter: Phil Noto!

Hey guys!! As you all know, I love comics! I talk about a few of my love - Harley Quinn, Hawkeye, Black Widow, JUBILEE - but I feel like I should also speak about some of my favorite artist!

Today's post will be about my love for Phil Noto. I'm not sure how I discovered his worked, I think it was a random drawing he did of Jubilee and Wolverine that was floating on the internet. I did some more search and discovered he did comic book covers. He has worked on series but mainly covers.

I'm not sure what it is about his art that I just love. It's the colors he picks, the line art, the simplicity, that he draws a kick ass Jubilee,  I just don't know but I love it. I want to share my favorite cover but it was so hard to pick but I narrowed it down to my four favorite covers!

4. Ghost#1 written by KellySue Deconnick and art/cover by Phil Noto

Such a simple color palette but I love the cover. I love how she's looking down on the guys and that flowy outfit. Have you read this series?

3. Astonishing X-men #66 written by Marjorie M. Liu, art by Amiclar Pinna, colorist by Cris Peter, Cover by Phil Noto

This is such a crazy cover with some of my favorite X-men. Jubilee looks awesome. Karma and Warbird look like they are ready to not take your shit! Did you guys like Astonishing X-men?

2. Black Widow #2 written by Nathan Henry Edmondson and art/cover by Phil Noto

I love every single art he has done of Black Widow. If you check out his tumblr, you'll see a lot of work which include Widow and Jubilee but I was so excited when I heard that he was working on an ongoing and it was Black Widow. I'm not sure what draws me to this cover. She's ready to do what she has to do! Have you caught the series? What are your thoughts?

1. Hit Girl #1 written by Mark Miller and art by John Romita Jr. Cover by Phil Noto

He did a variant cover for the first issue of Hit Girl. I wasn't able to get my hands on it but I love it! Hit Girl is just chilling on the chair of weapons. I'm not a fan of kick but I do adore me some Hit Girl. What about you?

So there you have it! One of my favorite artists and my favorite covers. Like I mentioned, I have a lot more but these are my favorites as of right now. Haha.. it always changes. Have you see any of his work? What do you think? Who's your favorite comic artist?

I totally can't wait to get to met him so I can get him to sign my Black Widow #1!

Oh and on a random note, I can't wait for Emerald City Comic Con this weekend! Amanda Conner will be there and I'm bringing my Harley Quinn #1 for her to sign!

Thanks for reading!!

  1. That Hit Girl cover reminds me of GoT! So awesome! (And I think Hit Girl would EASILY win the throne!
I NEED that Astonishing XMen cover! I'm off to hunt that down!

  2. Loving his art. The deep shadowing paired with bright colours is always a winner in my eyes.
