Blood Drip Nail Art!

It has been a while since I have posted about any nail art. I work in a file room so my manicures don't last very long and I usually end up breaking a nail or two every week.

I had been thinking of doing something Halloween related and when Julep contacted me about doing some nail art, I had to jump at the chance!!

I tried to think of something simple and for short nails because I have and will destroy them! I remember seeing during the spring someone had a melted ice cream design on their nails and then I had come across a photo of a Friday the 13th record that was listed as Blood Splatter, it all clicked.

I could do blood splatter/blood dripping nails!!

I used Nicole by OPI 3 in 1, Sinful Colors Glow in the Dark, and Do Not Text! Also to make things easier, use a dotting tool! If you don't have one you can make your own by using a pin and a pencil!

Always use a base coat to protect your nails. It helps with the tougher colors like red and black when it comes to staining.

1. Paint your entire nail with Glow in the Dark. Let it dry.

2. Grab your dotting tool and the red polish. I couldn't find my actual tools so I made one! Really easy!

3. Dip the round pin into the red bottle or as I did, place drops of polish onto your work surface and start by painting a strip at the top, like a manicure and then start "dotting." Doing this will create the "drips" and it also doesn't need to perfect. Once you have the look you like, let it dry.

4. Brush top coat on your finish product to protect it!

Ta da!! And that's all to it. It's so simple and quick!!

Freddy looks thrilled to be used as a prop!

Are you guys doing any Halloween art on your nails? Oh and I bet you're wondering how the Glow in the Dark polished worked?

I did three coats and I couldn't photograph it. My nails glow but it's really faint. I wonder if I need to do more and not use a top coat for it to be a stronger glow. Only problem is with that much polish, it will take a while to dry.

Thanks for reading and make sure to check out Julep and their nail polish colors! They  have so many! I'm drooling over them. Payton and Sushmita are my favorite right now!

*A color named Gladys (purple with black glitter specks) would be amazing! A girl can dream!

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Julep. They asked me if I wanted to share some nail art and I said of course because I love nail polish. I haven't purchased or received anything myself but the color choices they offer are amazing!!

  1. Ooooh very nice!! :) I really need to buy myself a dotting tool!

    1. I got a set of 5, all different sizes on ebay for under 3 bucks with shipping!

  2. I love this!! I might do black underneath (I love the black and red combo!).

    1. I was thinking about black as well! I actually found other tutorials with blood drip but they were mainly done with white. If you end up doing the black and red combo please let me know!

  3. That's awesome! It looks great! I need to practice nail art, because my hands shake uncontrollably when I try to paint mine.

  4. These are great. I like your dotting tool. I use random things to try imitate one : )
