Favorite Fictional Fathers

Today's 5 Fandom Friday post is all abut Fathers with Father's Day coming up next week. I was actually planning on skipping this topic because I don't do Father's Day.

I don't celebrate it because I don't have a Father. He left when I was a little girl so my Mother was both my mom and dad. Father's day became just any other day for me. Now, Jaime has a little girl and I try to celebrate it for him when she is with us but when she isn't, we don't think about it. He doesn't celebrate it either.

But there are some great fictional dads out there in the fandom world and just because mine is a loser, doesn't mean I can celebrate the awesome ones like Jaime!

So in honor of Jaime managing to raise an 11 year old that I can actually stand (and I mean that with the greatest amount of love for her) here are my 5 favorite guys!

1. Bobby Singer - Supernatural

I haven't caught up on SPN ( I am on season 6) but I consider Bobby a Father to both Dean and Sam. I love that he doesn't take their crap, give them sound advice, tells them to go away when he wants them to leave him alone, but also will do anything for those two even though they are not his. I'm big believer that family isn't just blood.

2. Darth Vader - Star Wars

He blew up his daughter's planet, he sliced his son hand off, he froze his daughter's boyfriend, I mean this man did everything terrible to his own children but in the end, he did save his son. Is he the greatest? Oh heck no but he gets a gold star.

3. Bob Belcher - Bob's Burgers

Bob is human. He makes mistakes. He doesn't know what he is doing half the time. He tries so hard for his kids but you know no matter how much he screws up or how much damage Louise, Tina, and Gene cause he loves his kids.

4. Gomez Addams - The Addams Family

To everyone else, they are the weird family but Gomez does everything he can to support and encourage his children even if it looks like they are mad to outsiders. And the amount of love he has for his wife is a beautiful thing.

5. King Randor - Masters of the Universe / Princess of Power

I had to take it old school for this one. He fought for his kingdom, for his children, and lost his daughter for it. Even though he complains about Adam being lazy he still supports him. When he found his daughter, he let her continue to live the life she already had even if it meant being in another universe. That was really cool.

So there you have it. My 5 favorite fictional fathers. Are they perfect? Far from it but I like them.

Have a great weekend!
