Unearth From My Closet: All I need is possible

While I was packing for my trip to Disneyland for the half marathon weekend, I saw my Doctor Strange POP shirt on my bed and I knew I had to bring it and wear it the day off the race. I also saw my black skater skirt and I tried my hands at putting an outfit together.

Once again, it was hot in Anaheim so I'm glad I brought skirt. I also discovered my suspenders and rolled with it. The Collector Corps shirts are men sized so even though I get a small, it's still a bit wide on me but I think the skirt and suspenders helped that out. I also added my white detachable collar to the outfit. I love the whole shirt / collar team up.

Skirt: Thrifted (Similar)
Suspenders: Amazon
Medal: RunDisney 10K

And of course I had my medal! I worked hard for it and I wore it all day Saturday! Since I was blocked from Disneyland, after breakfast we went to the hotel room, napped, changed and then hit up Company D which is the outlet store for Cast Members. Perfect outfit for some shopping!!

Afterwards we went to DCA and I got some awesome pictures with Spidy and Captain America!

I do love these POP shirts I just wished they made them in Women's cut.

Small Goals {December 2016}

This is it guys! The last month of 2016. I'm not sure what 2017 has in store for me considering everything that has happened and is happening because of the election but I will say this, I stand with her and I will stand for myself. I will be loud. I will be vocal. I will fight.

I will fight for myself. I will fight for my friends. I will fight for women's rights.

Here's hoping it won't take all my energy or destroy me in the process.

I'm also here with another set of goals. I'm really loving the process of creating small goals. I feel like I get more completed and accomplished in small batches! On that note, lets see how November went!

November Goals:

 VOTE! - I voted!!

Set up my 2017 Planner - I started it but haven't finished it. It took longer than I thought it would due to the cutting of sticky labels.

 Book Tokyo Hotel - Oops.

List Five items on Mercari - I went into my box of sell stuff on Black Friday, took photos, and listed them. Here's hoping that some of them sell!!

And now onto December!!

December Goals:

Finish Christmas shopping by the 2nd week - I did my Black Friday shopping online but otherwise I avoided the stores and I want to avoid them the last two week before Christmas.

Dink more tea - It has gotten painfully cold for me in SF and instead of consuming soda, I'm going to drink tea instead! I also need to make a dent in my stash.

Run the Santa 5k!  - I signed up for a non Disney run! It's the Great Santa Run and my goal is to start signing up for local marathons!!

Decide between a smart watch or a fitness watch - What? I know, I know. During Black Friday I took advantage of the sales and picked up a Samsung Gear 2 watch and a Garmin fitness watch with notifications.  Both will track my running BUT I'm trying to figure out if basic text notification is fine or do I need the bell and whistles. So, I'm going to test them out and see what I like.

Ah, December. My birthday month and Christmas. Be good to me!!

Have a great one!

I ran a 10K and I survived!!

Still thinking about the 10K makes my legs ache BUT I LIVED TO TELL THE TALE!!! Back in Jauary I participated in my first 5K - the Star Wars Light Side - and I made it to the finish line. I got some awesome pictures and I got a nifty rubber Luke medal.

This time around when registration opened for the Super Heroes Half Marathon aka Avengers Run I signed up for the 10K because I wanted the shiny metal medal. And I am insane.

This year the 10k was theme around the release of the Doctor Strange film which happened a week before the race. The medal would be the Eye of Agamotto which I'm so happy they went with that because that would of been one missed opportunity.

The 10K was Saturday morning. 530 in the morning. Yes, insane person over here and this time I managed to tangled Jaime into this insane-ness. We woke up at 3am, got ready, and then headed over to the parking lot they had set up for the pre-show. They had a DJ, hosts, showed clips from Doctor Strange, a water station, and brought out the Avengers to say hi including Doctor Strange. After that, they made the announcement to head over to the corrals to start the race. They are lettered and I was placed in B. Jaime was placed in F but we wanted to run together-ish so I stood back there with him. We waited for a good while and I started to complain about the cold. Eventually it was our turn and off we went!

We started the 10K by running through the streets of Anaheim. It was long and I am so thankful for my music. Every mile they had a marker with the time and me being the scrapbooker, I just had to stop at each one and get a photo! This adds to the time and the farther along you got, the longer the lines got. You have to keep a 16min/mile or you get sweeped. That just means they pick you up and you don't finish the race. We were doing pretty well considering the lack of training we both did.

Finally we got off the streets and into the parks! We entered through the back and ran right into Cars Land. We stopped for a couple of selfie's because I just had too. Getting to see off limit areas of the park is a pretty neat thing. Then we ran through DCA! Some where by Goofy's Sky School in DCA was the 5K mark and I didn't even notice we had gotten there. I was hurting a bit on mile 4 but I was too pumped up to care!! I can't remember where that marker was... I think it was backstage between DCA and Disneyland.

We made a circle around and ended up in a back area of the park which had some of the original ride seats!! I had to take pictures which again ate up my pacing time BUT I DIDN'T CARE.

Oh! And at DCA there were photo ops with Captain America, Spider-man, and Thor. I skipped them all because I have a ton of Thor and Cap & Spidy are in the parks!

And we finally made it into Disneyland. Last race I did we entered through Small World. This time it was Toon Town!!! By now, I had given myself a cramp and I was trying to remember desperately how to get rid of it. But OMG I saw BLACK WIDOW ACROSS FROM SMALL WORLD AND RAN.

I made the cramp worse but I didn't care. Her line was okay.. it took about 5 mins because the photographers were moving everyone along like me. I didn't even get the chance to look at my camera before I was kicked off. Disney takes photos of you throughout the race and at character ops so I at least have that!

Running down passed the Matterhorn we came across Hawkeye! His line was a bit longer but I didn't care. I needed my picture with him. After a few moments of chatting, he finally noticed the shirt was wearing. He was a flirt!

We ran back out through Tomorrowland towards Fantasyland and saw Doctor Strange. HIS LINE WAS CRAZY LONG but we got in. I also took this chance to use the bathrooms in the park because all the port a potty's had long lines. We waited long enough to lose our buffer of time and we were no where near the front. Disney folks were coming by saying we need to move now or we could stay, get our photo but not finish the race. If I wasn't getting my medal this whole thing would of been for nothing.

Off we ran and that was the end of the character photo ops. We ran through the castle, out onto downtown Disney and finally made it to the finish line, tired, in pain but we got our medals.

And because I am insane I made reservation at Chip n Dale's Story Teller cafe for breakfast right after the race. We were both hungry that we took advantage of the All You Can Eat!!

This was such a fun race and I got to run it with someone this time. Of course Disney would be the thing to get me off my couch and start running. I was tired but not in too much pain. I don't remember my official time but it wasn't that great due to stopping for photos AND the lack of proper training but I will do this again in a heartbeat!

And I am. I signed up for next years 5 and 10k!!

Right now, I'm running again getting ready for the Star Wars 10K in January! The medal is BB-8 and it's a spinning one. I'm also going back and forth on attempting the half marathon for that Han and Leia medal!!!

Guys, I ran a 10k and lived.

Unearthed From My Closet: BB-8!!

Earlier in November Jaime and I headed off to Disneyland to run the Doctor Strange 10K during RunDisney Super Heroes Marathon weekend.

I came out swinging with my love for BB-8! We got in on Thursday and I made it BB-8 day! I have a huge love for the droids in Star Wars and she's one of them. Even though it's fall, Southern California was having some crazy weather and it was really hot. I think it was in the 90s that day. So wearing a dress was perfect! Also, I'm glad it was warm because wearing a dress in the cold would of had me crying. I was determined to rock this outfit no matter the weather.

BB-8 dress: Her Universe
BB-8 socks: Loot Crate
BB-8 headband: Bought at the RunDisney Expo during the Star Wars marathon

I also got to visit Chewie and he loved my outfit and I got a hug. I always say this but he gives the best hugs.

Sideshow Collectibles borrowed my soul this year!

I bet you're asking "what is this?" let me tell you! Sideshow Collectibles which makes / sells some amazing highly detailed figures for collectors. I own a few of their releases and I also get my Hot Toys figures from them.

Every Halloween they host SPOOKTACULAR for a week. They have a ton of contests, giveaways, free reward points which is pretty much free money, and new releases. The last two SPOOKS I earned enough Reward Points to buy their Sixth Scale Freddy Krueger!!
So now what is Soul Borrowing. Every day or so they would get on Twitter and ask for souls. You of course would go on, reply, use the hashtag, and try to get picked! On the last day of Spooktacular which happened to be Halloween I got my Galactic Scavenger vest and the call for souls popped up and I post a photo of me wearing my vest. Well, I got their attention and when asked if the vest was a Elhoffer Design ( of course) they gave the soul picking to Catherine and she said YES!

My mission was to get photos around my office handing folks things a la Rey handing Luke his lightsaber at the end of The Force Awakens.

So I did!!

Blur co-workers faces

My co-workers were great sports about it even though a few of them did not understand the concept at all but they rolled with it. The receptionist keeps asking if I won and I told her I don't officially know yet. I sent off the photos and an e-mail to the official address but the catch is you HAVE to give them all the requested information correct once or you forfeit the prize.

Free is never easy!

The prize is a Hot Toys Rey figure which OMG when I got officially picked and asked if I wanted to give them my soul for the Rey figure I broke and started crying at my desk. I sometimes get very emotional.

Hot Toys figures are not cheap at all. I own a Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Hawkeye ones. I sold a ton of stuff online to afford the payments! (Thank you payment plans!) I think it warranted a good cry for being picked.

I also don't know which Rey figure I am getting. There's her Jakku outfit, the one with BB-8, and they are taking orders for the Rey island outfit which is actually waitlisted!! Ahhhhh.... I'm good with any of them and I'm good with waiting however long to get my prize because I know they must be swamped something fierce will the shipping!

If you haven't checked out Sideshow Collectibles, you should!! If you are a collector and want some highly detailed figures of your favorite fandoms, they got you covered. Also, they are such a great company and wonderful to their customers!!

Do you own anything from them? Have you ever won one of their giveaways / contests?

Small Goals {November 2016}

It's November!! So many things are happening this month! Thanksgiving! My very first 10K! THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!! Tuesday November 8th is going to go down in history for so many reasons, so many.

But while I spend my Tuesday freaking out, I'm here with a review of my October Small Goals and my  new Small Goals for November!!

October Goals:

Up the running to three days a week - My 10K is this Saturday and I stopped running. This is going to be interesting.

Trimming the bangs - Trimmed! I even trimmed the ends of my very long and annoying hair.

Clean the kitchen - Not only was the kitchen cleaned but we replaced a lot of stuff like the toaster oven!! Of course, the table is a mess because I turned into a crafting table.

Book Tokyo Hotel - We mentioned it but it didn't get done! LMAO!!

November Goals:

VOTE! - Today is Election day in the United States and I'm going to go out there and VOTE!!

Set up my 2017 Planner - Oh yes, it's that time!! I'm am planner obsessed and I need to start setting up my 2017 planner. I bought an Erin Condren Life Planner but I'm chopping it up and adding it into my A5 planner.

Book Tokyo Hotel - Lets try this again! But we do need to find something for the 3 days are planning to be there.

List Five items on Mercari - I've been lowering the prices on the stuff already on there and it's been selling but I need to get more things on there. Five is my goal!

Thanksgiving is in two week-ishs and my birthday is a week after that. I'm totally not ready for my birthday or the holidays. I think it's worse because of this election. I'm terrified guys of what the outcome could be.

Either way, here's to an AWESOME November no matter the outcome!

Did you create some goals this month? Are you ready for the Holidays?

Unearthed From My Closet: If it's the last thing I'll do on Earth... I'll make it something good.

My geek wardrobe is stepping up it's game thanks to Elhoffer Design. I got my Vintage Widow Cardigan in the mail and I wore it the next day.

I felt like such a bad ass even though I lost a fight to coffee earlier in the morning lol

I wore my cardigan and my little black dress to the office and it not only was it "not in your face" and 100% appropriate for my job, it kept me warm. My office has a tendency to freeze us to death and I'm always cold so trust me when I say this cardigan keeps you warm.

Cardigan: Elhoffer Design
Dress: Thrifted
Boots: Ross (similar)

I also have on order the Slytherin inspired cardigan and Galactic Scavenger vest. I can't wait to get those in the mail!!

Sketch Collection Part Two

Earlier I shared my collection of Princess Leia sketches from different artist during my con trips this year. I also took from Barb the idea of having another sketch book for all the other characters I love. I'm here to show off that collection. Again, I have added a watermark just to keep folks from trying to steal my photos. Hope it doesn't take away from the sketches!!

The photo above is of Louise from Bob's Burgers drawn by Franco (Tiny Titans). I love his work on Tiny Titans and every time I see him at a con, he draws my favorite characters in tiny form. He doesn't charge for sketches but I always buy something from them when I do!

This was a sketch of me done in crayon. I asked for purple since it's my favorite color. This cost me a whole dollar and it was the best thing I have ever spent a dollar on!! The artist was Todd Webb.

I went back to Franco on another day and asked for a Tiny Han to go with my Tiny Leia and he was happy to draw me one. Part of me wants to actually rip them out and frame them but NO ROOM!

Jubilee!!! I love Jubilee so much and feel like Marvel as just shafted her in the last few years. This one was drawn by Art Baltzar. He's the other artist / writer on Tiny Titans. I love that he went with the original outfit.

I was lucky enough to score another comission from Cara McGee and this time I got a punk Jubilee. This idea actually came from Joie during Sherlock Con! Cara McGee was vending and we were all chatting about her Punk Avengers collection when Joie mentioned about Jubilee. I had to do it and with her saying take the idea and Cara loving it, I got it in my book!

On the last day of SDCC (which is where I got all of these sketches) I was cosplaying as Linda from Bob's Burgers when a vendor asked for my photo. He afterwards told me that one of the artists of the comic and series was near by. I stopped by, got my comic sign, and he was nice enough to draw me a quick sketch of Linda! So lucky!!!

So there you have my other sketch book. It's been fun collecting sketches and I can't wait to do it again once con season starts up for me! I won't be at Emerald City Comicon next year but I'm hoping to make it to C2E2!!! I just need to figure out my hotel situation. Maybe Airbnb??

Halloween Horror Nights 2016

Back at the end of September, Jaime and I went to Universal Studios for their Halloween Horror Nights. This is the third year I've gone. We didn't go last year but we did go to the Horror Nights in Japan and that was amazing (post coming soon).

The first maze we went to was Krampus which was based on the film that was released last year. I really love the film and was excited for this maze.

It did not disappoint. The house both out and in were just like in the movie and I was excited to see the outside and Krampus right on the roof. We awesome got some awesome presents from the delivery guy who wonders around outside. You need to give him the word of the day to get them.

My favorite part of the maze was of course being in the kitchen with the gingerbread cookies and the living room. The living room was amazing and scared the living crap out of me. The entire maze was exactly like the movie and we loved it.

The next maze was the Freddy vs Jason one and OMG I couldn't wait to go in. I'm such a Freddy fan and love the films (Dream Warriors for the win!) I am probaly one of the few that did enjoy the Freddy v Jason film so yea, being excited for this one was an understatement.

The maze gives you a glimpse of both their "lives" and takes parts from their films - both alone and together. According to Jaime I was more so jumpy in this maze then I have ever been in the past few years we have gone. Well yes, I had both Freddy and Jason pop out of no where in a hallway and started slashing at me. Of course I'm going to scream and jump away. This one was another favorite of mine and if the lines hadn't gotten terrible by the end of the night, I would of ran in again.

Since Krampus and Freddy vs Jason were in the lower lot, they also had American Horror Story so we decided to go to that one before heading back upstairs for the rest of the mazes. This was their first year at Horror Nights and they were taking elements from House, Freak Show, and Hotel. At the time I hadn't seen Hotel so I was worried that I wouldn't get some of the stuff from that season.

AHS was not my favorite at all. I was right about Hotel, I didn't get any of it sadly. I did finally binge watch it and loved the season so I am bummed that I missed out on the scares of it. Also, I'm not sure if it was the way we were grouped in or their sets but the timing was way off. As we walked in, we either caught the glimpse of what was happening so we didn't get scared or they way the characters walked out, we saw them so it was like "Oh clown jumping out at me." I saw you coming mister.

I will say, the two guys who were behind us were talking all tough about going in and by the time we got inside they asked Jaime if they could walk with us and I had to ask them nicely to stop tugging on my backpack. I thought one of them was going to yank it down and me with it. They loved it though and were heading off to Freddy V Jason next. We told them good luck.

We are actually use to having folks ask if they can walk with us or kinda just tag along and I did have one year where a guy in front of us took his wife AND me down with him in the AvP maze. And it was a hard fall. Of course as we were all down, Predator and Alien were above us trying to claw at us.

We took a break, got some water, food, and made our way up to the other mazes. We were going to hit up Halloween first since it was on our way to food but we decided to go to the Terror Tram since the line was shorter and they shut that one down first.

Big mistake.

I had high hopes for Terror Tram since it was a team up with Eli Roth and it involved clowns. CLOWNS. I hate clowns and I was hoping for some good scare. It was so ill timed when they would take the guests up, that it was crowded. It was hard to walk through and with so many people I couldn't see what was going on with the clowns. Also, it was a re-hash of an older 3D clown maze that it took the fun out of it. I get it, it's expensive to create and you want to reuse the stuff you already have but they didn't change a lot of it at all.

Also a few actors looked so bored that it just took me out of it. Also getting back on the tram was such a crap show that I was just annoyed by the time we got dropped off. We went to get some snacks because food makes me better.

Terror Tram was terrible and a waste of our time. Pfft..

After some dinosaur snacks at the Jurassic Park restaurant, we headed off to the Halloween maze. I sadly didn't get a picture because this line was moving so fast there was no time to snap a photo but it was the Michael Myer's house!

This was another fun maze... and guys, it had moments from Halloween 3. I love you HHN for including that. It was all mainly from the first two films but there was one section that paid homage to Halloween 3 and that was great. I didn't learn to appreciate that film until I was older.

The Exorcist was next and OMG I have feeling about that maze. It was just like the movie. The one were she was crawling down the stairs always got me and ugh, in the maze was no exception.

And Regan spits at you. SHE SPITS AT YOU WAS YOU WALK THROUGH HER BEDROOM. Not cool guys, And the smells that radiate from that entire maze. Guys, your nose will hate you. At first we though the group in front of had bad body order. Nope, that was all Regan.

Love this maze.

The final maze of the night was The Texas Chainsaw and by the time we got into the maze, we were already so over and done with it. The maze was set up inside the Waterworld attraction. So the line wrapped around the sitting area of the show. I'm not sure who had the bright idea but because they didn't want people messing around in the seats, they had the line start behind them and would send a but at a time across them and into the maze. It made such a back up and I swear this was the slowest moving line out of them all AND at the time it was the shortest wait time according to the app.

We finally go in and it was okay. Not as bad at AHS but it wasn't scary. Again, maybe it was the timing for us when we got in but it felt like they were all just set up to yell at us and slice some meat. That was it. It had some gross moments - meat locker anyone? - but it wasn't enough to make me jump, yell, or scratch the crap out of Jaime's arm.

But this place has smells as well and they were disgusting. Ugh, good job guys! The gross factory was there all right.

We also did the Walking Dead maze which is now an actual attraction. I had already gone through it this summer with Travis and it sounded like it would be a bit different during Horror Nights but it wasn't. Jaime got to experience it so that was cool but since I had already gone through it, I knew what was happening and where.

I will say, I hope they do change up the maze because otherwise, I'm not going to bother to go every time I do visit the park. It's one thing when it's a ride - it's another when it's a maze. At least that's how I feel.

A photo posted by Usagi πŸŽ€ (@usagimylene) on

Over all, a great, scary time was had. Not all mazes will win me over but I think this year was great... just two we didn't enjoy. Even though Texas Chainsaw didn't scare me, it still had the gross factor.

I wish I could go again but there's always next year!

Have ya'll gone to Horror Nights? What has been your favorite maze? Which maze would you like to see?

Unearthed From My Closet: And That's The Long & Short Of It

Sometimes a girl just wants to wear a t-shirt and jeans.

I don't automatically sub to Loot Wear; I gotta be picky but when they announced their August theme and what was included, I ended up picking up two of their "crates."

I picked up the Loot Wearable because it was an Archer theme one and they did not disappoint! I have rediscovered my love for Baseball tees and love the fit and style of the Archer design. It's so soft and I love the length of the sleeves. The shirt did come out of the wash wrinkle as all heck and you can't iron the graphic at all so I had to be careful. I used a towel and covered up the graphic.

The design/graphic is a play on Archer and Magnum P.I. which is a homage to the season 7 trailer that spoofs the opening to the old 80s tv show. I love anything 80s so this shirt was right up my alley and I am so glad I got it. I will say though, Archer's TOP GUN spoof will FOREVER be my favorite.

We were having game day that day so I threw it on with my favorite pair of jeans. You know that pair. The one that fits just right and is oh so comfortable. Spending all day playing board games, you gotta be in a relaxing outfit so you can take on your opponents!!

Gotta beat them in Exploding Kittens!!

Also for fun, here's an outtake photo! Jaime usually (always) ends up playing photographer and even though we are both working on it, he ends up getting way more photos of me making faces/laughing because he said something sooooo "hilarious."

Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Loot Crate / Loot Wear and I paid for the shirt. If you do want to join Loot Crate (any of their crates) sign up here and you save $5 bucks and I'll get $5 towards my next one! WIN WIN!! (I think it works for any of their crates, not sure. I usually have friends use it when they are ordering the actual Loot Crate)
