5 Fandom Friday: 5 Things in My Purse at All Times

It's been a while folks. It's been a while for both blogging and participating in 5 Fandom Friday. (I had a few posts schedule but that was at the beginning of the month!) Though when I saw today's topic, I just had to make a post about it. What's in my Purse themes have always been my favorite for some reason.

Maybe it's because I'm nosy or I just love seeing what every one is carrying and maybe find myself a new cute wallet or accessories. I mean who knows but they are my favorite topics to read. Back when I was on livejournal I was even part of a "what's in my purse" community and I bought a lot of wallets.

But enough about that, here's the 5 things that I have in my purse at all times.

1. Portable charger: I'm on my phone so much that I need one at all times. When I'm on vacation or at a con, I normally have two of them. The second one is my Star Wars Rebels Sabine MIMOBOT SDCC charger. I had a Chopper one from Star Wars Celebration but it was poof.

2. Wallet: I will always have a wallet and they will be geeky. This one that I'm currently using is from Paul Frank and I love it so much. Music is my life and I need it always.

3. Pill Case & Comb/Mirror: I count these as one item total because they are cute and I always have them with me. I got them at a store in Harajuku and they are from SWIMMER. The Eat ME is a comb/mirror while the heart shaped box is the pill case. It reminds me a of Magical Girl locket so I had to get it.

4. Minnie Mouse TSUM TSUM Lipsmacker: I don't wear much make up but lip gloss/chapstick is a must and Minnie is the one currently in my bag that comes with me every where. She is too cute

5. Pen: I always have a writing instrument with me. I normally carry my planner too but I was too lazy to put it in my purse this morning. I never know when inspiration will strike, may it be blogging, scrapbook idea, whatever and I need to write it down or I will forget. Right now I am obsessed with my R2D2 ballpoint and  my 5 pen Coleto which I picked up in Japan.

And since I took a photo of the 5 things in my purse I decided to take another photo of everything that is in my purse right now!

1. Earphones: I need music at all time.
2. Disney Main Entrance Pass: This lets me into the Happiest Place on Earth!
3. Pokemon Card Sleeve: Desiree sent me a few Animal Crossing cards in this!
4. Packet of Tissue: For mess because I'm clumsy
5. Mickey Mouse Purse Holder: I got this at Diaso in Tokyo!
6. Hair Tie: Long Hair gets annoying & blocks my food from getting into my mouth
7. Essential Oil Locket: I need Lavender Oil
8. Breath Strips: I hate retainers
9. Distress Crayons: A new thing for me to play with
10. Work Badge: Need to get in and out
11. I Love You Custom Pin: Order it from a seller on Etsy because reasons
12. BB-8 Charm: I got it when I ordered the POE body pillow
13. Mini Hole Punch: Because you never know when you need to punch someting...?
14. Light Up Millennium Falcon: It's the Falcon
15. Keys: I need to get into my home

Not a whole lot for the size purse I have. I did have my planner which is an A5 and other items in there yesterday but I started working on stuff and also my purse need a good receipt purge. I have a tendency to throw them in there and not do anything.

And in case  you were wondering, my purse is the Haunted Mansion Dooney & Burke tote. I bought it during my last trip to Disneyland. It's one of my favorite rides and I adore that wallpaper so much. I couldn't say no to the purse when I saw it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Loot Crate December 2015

It's February and I'm sharing my December Loot Crate box!! Haha... My box showed up during the week of Christmas and I just finally got around to opening it.

I had a on going sub with Loot Crate but decided to stop it when their Sept box was just meh and Funko announced the Smugglers Bounty box. I couldn't have that many subs and I made the choice to go with Funko because I knew I was always guaranteed a POP figure and it is Star Wars.

Loot Crate announced their December box was a galaxy themed and that they would be having an exclusive Star Wars Funko.

So I just signed up for December and got my box!

First off I got a ugly Christmas t-shirt. I don't know about you but I'm sick of the whole ugly sweater now t-shirt thing. It's a cool shirt in all of it's 8-bit glory but how many times am I going to wear this? Off to the sale pile it goes.

Oh hey another Halo item! This time it's a Halo 5 ammo tin box. It's designed to look like the tins they use in the game. Also included was a code to redeem weapons and such. I don't play Halo 5 so this code will be up for grabs or I may sell it.

So as I pulled the items out, I noticed something was missing. The Funko POP they promised. What the hell? Where is it? Did they put it in the tin? It fit in the tin?

Oh yea, the put it in the tin along with two more items.

A Galaxy Quest patch. A official replica Galaxy Quest patch.

I got a pair of socks. A pair of awesome BB-8 socks! One can never have too many nerdy socks and Loot Crate sends the most awesome socks.

And here is the POP figure I so wanted. It's old man Han Solo in snow gear!! Aw yes!!! Funko did announce a wave 2 of Star Wars POP figures which include Han and Leia but I will be sticking with this one! I'm hoping this months Smugglers Bounty includes an exclusive General Leia. The theme is Resistance. Here's hoping!

And here you have it! My December Loot Crate! Did you get one? What did you think of the theme? Did you only get it for the Funko figure?

Funko Marvel Collector Corps December 2015 Box

Heeeeeeey!! I'm finally getting around to opening my December Collector Corps! The theme was Guardians of the Galaxy and I was really excited for this one. It showed up towards the end of the month so it sat by my desk this entire time. The only reason I remembered it was because I tripped over it. Anyways, let's see what I got!

And like always a patch and pin! This time it was a Rocket Raccoon patch and a Groot pin. I really like the Rocket patch. I'm not a big fan of the Groot pin. Since they are doing the same thing with Smugglers Bounty, I'm going to go ahead and sell the Marvel ones. It's just too many patches and pins to have around.

And here's what was inside the box! OMG THERE ISN'T A SHIRT IN HERE THIS TIME. Sorry but that needed to be said in caps. I haven't been liking the shirt selection and seriously, I don't need more shirts but this is awesome!!

First we have the comic! Every box has had a comic with an exclusive cover but this one is the cutest that I'm keeping and framing it. The other comics have gone off to the sales pile. And check out the scarf! It's really cute and soft. One side has the logo and the gang and on the other side...

It has Groot! He take up the entire legnth of the scarf. It's so adorable and came at the right time. It's has gotten pretty cold where I live right now and I am happily going to use it. It's really adorable.

And for the Funko POP figure there was a 2pk of Groot in a red pot with a green bow and Rocket Raccoon with a red bow on his gun. They are ornaments which sadly because I just opened the box, they weren't put on my tree. They don't stand on their own at all so putting them on my shelf is not an option. They are the cutest and I will figure out where to put them. I'm gonna see if I can hang them off the edge of my desk somewhere.

The final item in the box was this rad Star-Lord mug. It's from their POP! Home collection. Again, much better than a shirt and something I could use a lot of even though I have way too many mugs. I wonder if there were other ones in the box or if it was just Star-Lord. Either way, I love it.

I think the Guardians of the Galaxy box was their best box yet. The mix up was a fun surprise. There other boxes have been the same - a comic, a shirt, the patch, the pin, and a POP figure or two. Sending out a mug and scarf were even better. The ornaments were a cute idea too.

Did you get this box? What did you think of it?

Thanks for reading!

Geek Girl Brunch San Francisco/Bay Area: May The Brunch Be With You

The San Francisco / Bay Area Geek Girl Brunch chapter held their second met up in December and of course our theme was Star Wars. It was a cold Saturday afternoon in San Francisco but we had a nice turn out, enjoyed the food, and of course geeked out over everything Star Wars!

We had brunch at Sessions at the Presidio which is located in the Presidio in San Francisco, CA. They had a few Star Wars theme drinks and meals on their menu which makes perfect sense since they are located right near LucasFilms HQ!

The food was amazing. I personally ordered some items off the menu that I never thought I would like and I was in heaven. They also had holiday drink specials which I wished I remember their names so I can tell you. One of them was purple and had egg nog in it. Another drink our waiter described as Thanksgiving in a cup.  My favorite item that I ordered was the Avocado toast with pickle red onion and panella cheese. If you are ever in San Francisco and get to eat at Sessions, order that item STAT.

We spent a couple of hours eating and chatting. It was a fun and great time. We of course talked about Star Wars, our jobs, vacations we have taken/will be taking, and just random conversations. Like I mentioned, even the wait staff hang out and geeked out with us. That was so great too. I love it when the restaurant gets excited with us! It makes the brunch even more fun.

Afterwards, we walked through the Presidio to get photos in front of the Yoda fountain statue by LucasFilm HQ. Sadly their lobby was locked to the public but we saw a First Order, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett statues through the windows.

We also gave out some awesome swag to everyone who came. The Ninjabot graciously gave us these awesome Star Wars prints which are currently in their shop. You can buy them here. Fellow brunch offer Sarah created the awesome Princess Leia felt ornaments. (I have mine hanging in my work cube!) Thanks to Barb who told me about this awesome mini lightsaber tutorial, fellow brunch officer Kristy put together a bunch of them! I made everyone BB-8 out perler beads thanks to this pattern. I also picked up re-usable shopping bags from Target's dollar spot to use as gift bags. Everyone loved them including the staff at Sessions. We had a few left over that we gave them some of the goodies.

It was a great gathering and I'm glad that everyone had a great time. We are currently putting together our next brunch which will happen later this month. Since we are having it after Valentine's day and Deadpool is released this month (exciting!!) our theme is Deadpool Galentine's Day. We didn't book a Mexican restaurant, you know because he loves tacos/chimichangas but we found a place called The Hideout and we just couldn't say no to the name.

I can't wait!!

Small Goals {FEBRUARY 2016}

Welp, January is now officially over and as I like to say, 2016 is in full swing. I'm hoping this month will be a bit slower for me but I have Geek Girl Brunch and a whole lot of visits to the Alamo Drafthouse. They just opened in San Francisco and have some awesome programming this month.

Since this a new month, it also means a new set of small goals! So how did I do with my goals for January? Let's find out!

January Goals:

Read one book - This did not happen. I didn't even pick up one of the three I had already started. Instead I got a new book in the mail and I started reading it. I'm not even half way either. So I'm going to attempt this goal again this month. I love reading so I don't know know why this is hard for me to do.

Blog at least once a week - Woot!! I kept up with this one. They were mainly Funko Friday posts but I am a collector of Funko's and it's a part of my "lifestyle" so I went with it and frankly, there is nothing wrong with just doing theme posts. So hey! I completed one goal!!

Do an unboxing video  - Okay, so I recorded an unboxing video. It was for my second Smugglers Bounty box. I edited it, I uploaded it, and it looks grainy and pink. WTF?? I don't know what happened. I used Windows Media Maker.. or something like that. It's free and it looks fine. It looked fine on my Canon Rebel. A few people saw it on mobile and it looks fine. (It's unlisted) For some reason on a laptop it looks bad. I'll probably say screw it and make it public and add it to the post. I worked hard on it and I'm not a perfect person.
Run at least twice a week - Nope. I did run right up to the marathon and I completed the 5K without dying!! (read about it here) but the week after it was raining and I am not running in the rain. So yea, the last two weeks did not happen.

Start putting money into a savings account - Nope BUT I did make and save a bit more then I thought I could and paid off two credit cards but yea, I didn't start that savings account. I did start a savings account for my Run to the Dark Side 2017 trip! Haha.. this girl is going to attempt the Kessel Run for DisneyRun!  So gotta focus on that money and that CC bill!

Okay so that wasn't too bad... I managed two complete 2 of my 5 goals!! So how about them February goals!!

February Goals:

Read one book - Yup, gotta add it in here again. I am determined this month! lol

List more items on Mercari/Poshmark - I have more luck selling my nerdy/geeky items on Mercari so a bulk of my stuff will go there and I will add more of the "brand name" items on Poshmark. I need to stop being lazy and get on it! Less stuff. More money. (SORRY BUT I AM PLUGGING!! Sign up with poshmark using BLGIR and we both will get $10 bucks or sign up with Mercari using UKGBZD and we both get 2 bucks!)

NO CLOTHES BUYING - This is going to be tough because there are so many cute things out there but yup, I need to lay off the clothes buying. I have way too much which is what made me want to start selling it in the first place. I was going to try no buying at all but I'm going to realistic and pick something specific. So no clothing this month and if I'm tempted, move the amount of money into RUN TO THE DARK SIDE fund.

Drink a glass of water each day - I am terrible when it comes to water. I consume soda like it's water and I really need to fix that so for all of February, I'm going to make sure I have one glass a day minimum.

Start and complete my taxes - I have a tendency to wait until April to do them because in my head they are very simple. My W-2 and my school one. This way, I'm not scrambling last minute and I get my money a whole lot sooner.

Three of these goals focus on money but it's something that I need to do. I just need to get better with money and saving in general. Guys, I'm terrible when it comes to it. I spend like their is an endless supply. Speaking or in this case, writing about being a geek and spending money on collectibles, travel, conventions etc. and getting yourself in trouble could be a good thing to write about but for another time.

As I like to say: be good to me February, be good to me.

Did you create small goals last month? How did it go? How this month?

I ran the Star Wars 5K and I survived!

People run for fun. I never understood that. I ran but that's because I was playing a sport or training during my ROTC years in high school but I never ran for fun. Yes, it's a great form of exercise but unless it was needed, I never did.

In case you didn't know Disney has this thing called RunDisney and every year they have marathons in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. They have 5K, 10K, and half marathons all with different themes. Last year they started a Star Wars ones. I saw how much fun people had running it that a part of me was like, "whoa I want to do this." Registration opened in June 2015 for the 2016 marathon and after a few weeks of thinking about it, I hit the sign up button. I signed up for my very first marathon.

I went simple. I only signed up for the 5K. I knew my limit at that moment of sign up and trying to do a 10K or even the half marathon was not do able. So with me signing up in June and knowing the race was in January, I told myself I had enough time to train. Hahaha... that did not happen. I started a month before the race to train. I was told though that the 5K is a chill run at Disneyland and if you are a walker, you can complete it.

I live in San Francisco. I am a natural born walker. I felt confident enough. So the 15th of January rolled around and I was ready to participate in my first marathon! The start time was 5:30am (oh my god why?!?!) and they wanted folks to be there at 4am. I woke up at 3:30am and made my way to the meet up. I got lucky and scored a hotel that was at the bottom of Disneyland Drive so it wasn't far away at all.

Note to self: You don't need to be there that early. They had an awesome photo set up with a Wampa and First Order stormtroopers were running around but I was Solo... Han Solo and I stood around feeling like an idiot in the cold. There was a stage, a host, and they got folks to dance, showed some trailers, had "cast members" on stage who were to cheery for a 4am wake up call. It would of been a great time if I wasn't by myself and you know, freezing to death.

I was going to wear my Princess Leia tank and my Han Solo shorts both from WeLoveFine but it was so cold I added my work out leggings and threw the 5K shirt under the tank. Thank you free shirt for signing up! Finally at about 4:45am they herded us like cattle to the start of the race. I was placed in corral A so I was in the front!! They had more announcements, mainly thanking sponsors and showed the Star Wars Rebel trailer which OMG I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT!! I haven't seen the current season.

And the race started. I was so excited to be doing this and getting the chance to run through both Disneyland and Disney California parks. I started off slow by jogging and switching off and on with power walking. We eventually got off the street and headed up backstage. One of the cool things of the runs is chance to get photos with characters who aren't normally around. Each park had two! Chewbacca was back stage of Disneyland but I skipped him since you can met him in the Launch Bay! Seeing the bright lights for A Small World when you entered the park amped me that I started running through the park. Like actual running but I was careful not to over do it.

The second photo op was with Sabine and Ezra in Tomorrowland and I of course stopped and took a photo.

You had to make sure you had time because they have a pacing requirement and if you fall behind they will pick you up and not let you finish the race. The line wasn't bad at all and I stopped for a photo. I ran some more and eventually exited Disneyland and ran to the entrance of Disney California! I stopped to get a photo with the 2nd mile marker because HOTH!

According to it, I did 2 miles in about 34mins considering I stopped  few times for photos and of course stood in line for this one.!

I'm power walking now through Hollywood when I saw a huge line, I ignore it until I turn the corner and OMFG IT'S BB-8. I ran back to the end of the line and I wait. I wait some more. I make some turns. I waiting and watching for the people in case they start yelling that we need to move. I make it in time and I get my photo.

I run passing Tower of Terror, into Bug's land and then Cars Land. When I hit the winery, I see C-3PO and R2-D2!! OMG, I run over to try to get in line but they had closed it off.

Noooooooo

Oh well, I keep running. I run through Disneyland California, exit into Downtown Disney, and I finish the race. I finish the run.

Guys, I finished it but don't ask my final time because I was not keeping track at all. I forgot to turn the app on my phone and didn't pay attention to the time at the finish line.

So I got my medal, my photo taken, and they handed up water bottles, powerade bottles, bananas, and a snack box.

I had a great time. After I found Jaime, we went back to our hotel, I ate everything that wasn't nailed down, got ready and against Jaime's idea of maybe taking a nap, we went to the park where I spent the rest of the day running around Launch Bay and riding Hyperspace Mountain. And by 2pm I guess I fell asleep at the table while eating lunch over at Paradise Pier. Go me!

I had a fun time running the 5K at Disneyland and I may have gotten Jaime to join me in signing up for the 10k Avengers marathon later this year! I am excited.

Have you guys signed up for any of the RunDisney marathons? Which ones are your favorites? How many have you done?
