Scum and Villainy Cantina

“Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi

This Star Wars inspired pop up bar came across my radar last year and I of course I had to go. It was opening up in Los Angeles somewhere and I decide what the heck, I'm in San Francisco I can do this!

In case you are wondering, I don't drive. I don't have a diver's license. You don't need it in SF but it does make it difficult to do road trips.

You had to buy your tickets in advanced, like a year in advance I want to say. I don't really remember and it was 50 dollars a ticket. It included the cover and two drinks. I was going into it blind along with everyone else because there was no other information except the name, it was Galactic, and it would be in LA.

I've made other terrible adult choices when it comes to experiencing things, so I dove in! After getting the ticket for Jaime and I, we waited for the day when they would open up reservations which happened the beginning of this year. That was not fun at all. The site kept timing out. It wouldn't load everything. It would crash. People on facebook were freaking out because nothing was working. It couldn't handle the traffic. I finally got in after an hour of waiting and I was able to snag a spot for a Saturday in May. It was the first reservation of the day and it worked out.

Fast forward to May and we made our visit to Scum and Villainy Cantina. We got there around 230pm and the line to get in wasn't too bad. 3pm rolled around and they were still getting ready but as they were doing that, someone was outside getting our names and handing out the drink chips. By this time the line was getting longer and everyone was dressed up in one form or another!!

They finally let us in!! You make your way down the stairs in dim lighting while lasers were around you, smoke machines, and Sci-Fi music playing. The bar was small! I guess it was given due to it only being a pop up! There was 5 booths, a few hi tables and dozen or so stools at the bar. The reservations are set for two hours and only a small amount is let in. it was crowded but nothing terrible. Jaime and I claimed half a booth and while we did at one point had two folks join us, we pretty much had it to ourselves.

They had your basic bar food for purchase like nachos, quesadillas, and what not but that wasn't included in the reservation price. They had three main theme drinks and of course, your basic beers and stuff. We got to try all three theme drinks - Wretched Blue Milk, The Chosen One, and A Bad Feeling About This - and we both love Wretched Blue Milk. A Bad Feeling lived up to its name.

We both had fun hanging out, listening to some funky music, and enjoying the drinks. Once our time ended, we were given a pint glasses as we exited.

The 50 dollar reservation included entry, 2 drinks which for the ones we picked were at 12 bucks each, a pint glass, and a token to come back at another time which would of been awesome but we aren't local and I overheard that with token it would $10 bucks to get in.

50 bucks was a lot to drop for something we didn't really know about and in our case $100 for the two of us. I do have mix feeling about that... the drinks were 24 each since we go two and the glass would of been 20 if we bought it on it's own and that was already 44 but do I really need more glasses and in our case two?

But it was over all it was fun! I was with Jaime and we made it worth it the trip down with other events through out the day like visiting the Museum of Ice Cream earlier and after Scum and Villainy we had movie tickets to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at the El Captain theater.

And I have a video!! I'm still working out how I want to do this and what I officially want my channel to be about but here is a small video of us at the Scum and Villainy Cantina!!

Did any of you get the chance to visit? What were your thoughts and experience? Would you do it again?!
